Currently I am a doctoral candidate working towards my PhD in Civil Engineering. My dissertation is titled, "Description, prediction, and prescription of the compounding impacts of hazards on society."

I did a dual master's degree in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering (EWRE) and Public Affairs. My thesis was titled, "Intersecting near real-time fluvial and pluvial inundation estimates with sociodemographic vulnerability to quantify a household flood impact index."

While an undergraduate at Auburn University, I was named both the Alabama Society of Professional Engineers and the Auburn University Biosystems Engineering Outstanding Student of Year.

Research and Work Experience

2022 - Present

NASA FINESST

Future Investigators in NASA Earth and Space Science and Technology Fellowship, supporting two years of graduate level research. This has been the primary funding source of my PhD. Funded projects have explored some of the following topics:

  • Multi-variate analysis of daily Earth Observation anomalies

  • Network analysis of flood hazards and social vulnerability 

  • Dynamical systems model of hazards and vulnerability

2019 - 2021

NSF GRFP

National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, supporting three years of graduate level research. This was the primary funding source for my dual master's degree. Funded work included:

  • Social hydrology and compound flooding impacts in urban areas

  • Incorporating socioeconomic factors in flood modeling

  • Near-real-time flood mapping

CUAHSI Hydroinformatics Fellowship

Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science Hydroinformatics Fellowship, where we are refactoring and enhancing a near-real-time compound inundation Python package, PyGeoFlood.

2021 - 2022

AGU Thriving Earth Exchange Community Scientist Fellowship

Coordinated a team of interdisciplinary scientists and community leaders on flood and lead projects for the Georgetown Seattle community.

2020

USGS GRIP Fellowship

The Graduate Research Internship Program is a part of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSFGRFP). Worked with the National Land Imaging (NLI) Program on internal and external science communication processes.

2019 - 2020

Strauss Center’s Brumley Next Generation Fellow

Assisted in various GIS projects specifically related to visualizing climate change threats in relationship to power generation capabilities in India.

NASA DEVELOP GIS Research Analyst

Worked with a variety of partners in Thailand to assess water quality concerns using various remote sensing data and the SWAT model.
